When your child becomes a teen many of the things you love and enjoy about them may begin to change - at least some of the time.
This two hour workshop is the essential guide to living with your teen by the author of the best selling book on the market for parents of teens - 'Whatever - a down to earth guide to teenagers'.
Recent research into the changes in the brain during adolescence are still not widely understood so we'll be looking at some of the key findings in layperson terms.
For example did you know that most teens have periods where they cannot identify how someone is feeling by looking at their face or hearing their tone of voice? No wonder they seem so oblivious to an angry parent or feel adults are being sarcastic when they give thanks or praise.
Knowing what is going on in their heads and their perception of the world helps us adults have some empathy and understanding for teens and this workshop starts there - and uses the information to create effective ways of communicating, negotiating if appropriate and setting and reinforcing boundaries. This is the short guide to understanding and managing teens you have always wanted.
